Students should wear comfortable business casual clothing for the tour (shorts and tennis are acceptable as students will be touring each campus), but jeans may not give campus officials with the best impression. Of course, students may dress as they choose for the afternoon/evening excursions.
Mikael Davis and Catryna Jackson will provide SAT Prep instruction. Mr. Davis is a former International Baccalaureate History of the Americas instructor whose students averaged a 93% pass rate on the I.B. Exam, a 91% pass rate on the A.P. U.S. History exam, and a 1236 composite Math and Critical Reading score on the SAT Exam. Catryna Jackson earned a Master of Arts degree in Physics from Hampton University and is currently the co-founder of the Williamsburg Classical Christian Academy, where she teaches Physics and Chemistry.
Students will be assigned to exceptional college chaperons from Virginia Commonwealth University, Hampton University, and Christopher Newport University. The student – chaperon ratio will be 5:1, but ultimately, Mikael Davis, the Chief Academic Officer of TeachersBox LLC, assumes responsibility for every student on the bus tour. Mr. Davis earned a Master of Arts degree in Education and Human Development from the George Washington University and a Bachelor of Arts in History from the College of William and Mary. He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Summit Christian Academy.
Parents are absolutely welcome to attend the tour with their child and the tour is priced to make it affordable should a parent desire to attend.
The purpose of the Great Virginia College Tour is to expose students to the exceptional college options in the Commonwealth, to increase their preparation for the SAT exam, and to enable them to have as much fun as possible in the process. We picked dynamic excursions that would provide students with the ultimate in summer entertainment. They will gain valuable information from the campus tours. They will learn content knowledge and test-taking strategies during the SAT Prep sessions. And they will thoroughly enjoy the excursions and return home excited about the college application process. All costs for the tour, inclusive of SAT Prep, lodging, meals, and excursions are included in the registration fee.
Each university will put their best foot forward to attract students to their campus. Our goal is to help students identify the "best fit" for their undergraduate education, so we equip students with questions about everything from campus housing, academic programs, and activities, to athletics and intramural sports, banking options on campus, and internship opportunities. Students naturally focus on the universities housing accommodations and dining facility. We help them get information about freshmen retention rates, graduation rates, internship placement, and graduate school matriculation rates.
Agape Tours and Travel Motor Coach will provide transportation for the Great Virginia College Tour.
During the Great Virginia College Tour, students will be lodged in the Comfort Suites in Williamsburg and Glen Allen, the Red Roof Inn in Charlottesville (one night each), and in Logan Hall in Harrisonburg (two nights). See the Itinerary for our specific travel and lodging schedule. Four students will lodge in each suite with a chaperone.
